Objectives of the Program
1. To produce doctoral degree graduates who, apart from having specialized knowledge in history of architecture and architectural conservation in Thailand and Southeast Asia, have developed notable ability in carrying out inquiries, formulate ideas, analyze, synthesize data, and produce new knowledge based on systematic and advanced level research methodology with accountability
2. To build up body of knowledge in history of architecture and architectural conservation that can be useful for related academic and professional purposes such as art history, archaeology, conservation of historic buildings and sites, and promotion of cultural tourism
3. To provide support for conservation of architectural heritage in connection with policies on conservation of national cultural heritage and in accordance with international standards and principles.
Eligibility to Apply
1. Applicants must possess the qualifications prescribed for each type of study plan as follows:
Plan 1.1
1) M.A. in History of Architecture from Silpakorn University or
2) Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field with at least 1 published peer-reviewed paper or article that was not part of the degree undertaking, in an academic journal or a publication, subject to consideration at the discretion of the Program Operating Committee or
3) Master’s degree or equivalent in other disciplines with working experience in a related field and at least 1 published peer-reviewed paper or article that was not part of the degree undertaking, in an academic journal or a publication, subject to consideration at the discretion of the Program Operating Committee.
Plan 2.1
A Master’s degree or equivalent.
2. Passed English proficiency test at the level specified by the Committee of Higher Education or according to that required by Silpakorn University
3. Possess other qualifications deemed to be of relevant value by the Program Operating Committee
4. Possess the qualities stipulated under Article 7 of Silpakorn University Graduate Studies Regulations, 2023 and/or subsequent changes thereof.
